2008-2009 Public Lecture Series: The Anthropology of Food
Unless otherwise noted, all lectures take place at the James A. Little Theater, New Mexico School for the Deaf, 1060 Cerrillos Road, at 7:00 pm. Doug Schwartz's lecture on February 12, 2009 will be held at 7:00 pm. at The Lensic, Santa Fe's Performing Arts Center in downtown Santa Fe. Jessica Metcalfe is the 2008 Harvey W. Branigar, Jr. Native Intern. A Ph.D. candidate in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona, she is working on completing her dissertation, which focuses on Native clothing designers.
SAR Welcomes Cedar Sherbert, 2008 King Fellow...
Cedar Sherbert is the 2008 Rollin and Mary Ella King Native Artist Fellow. An accomplished Kumeyaay filmmaker, he has created several critically acclaimed films and won awards at the Los Angeles Film Festival, imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival, and the American Indian Film Festival, among many others.- New SAR Seminar Program for Research Teams
The School for Advanced Research (SAR) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to establish a new SAR Research Team Seminar program to advance collaborative and interdisciplinary research in anthropology. The program supports at least two seminars each year for research teams that need focused time together to synthesize, analyze, and discuss the results of their work and to develop plans for successful completion of their projects. Eligible research projects will be those in which the central focus is on a question of anthropological importance; teams that are interdisciplinary and international in scope are especially encouraged to apply. - SAR Prize Session in Anthropological Archaeology at WAC-6
