The School for Advanced Research offers the following fellowship opportunities for Native American Scholars and Artists:

Resident Scholar Fellowships

Ned BlackhawkThe School for Advanced Research offers unique opportunities for Native American scholars through the Katrin H. Lamon and Anne Ray fellowship programs. The Lamon residential fellowship is designed to enable Native American scholars to complete book-length manuscripts or doctoral dissertations in anthropology and related disciplines, including history, American studies, and sociology. The Anne Ray residential fellowship is available for an established Native American scholar, working in the humanities, arts, or the sciences, who has a commitment to providing mentorship to recent Native graduates or graduate students. All resident scholars are provided with housing, office, stipend, and other benefits during a nine-month tenure, from September 1 though May 31.

The Katrin H. Lamon and Anne Ray fellowships are two of several fellowships offered by the School's Resident Scholar Program. Native American scholars are encouraged to apply for other categories of support as well.

Artist Fellowships and Native Internships

Clay Being Three fellowships and two internships are offered yearly for Native American artists and scholars by the Indian Arts Research Center. Artist fellowships provide time for exploration of new ideas in art and contemporary issues. Internships provide professional development for those interested in museum work, with interns learning about collections, registration, and programming while continuing their academic research. Artist fellows spend two to three months living and working on campus, with full access to the collection, while interns spending nine months in residence. Housing and a stipend are provided for all fellowships and internships.
